Manager Technical Services

THE POSITION

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Manager Technical Services is responsible for compressor, corrosion, gas measurement and warehouse functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

· Integrity management of distribution system as related to;

· Compression Station maintenance

· Transmission Pipeline Inspection scheduling and contracting as required

· Annual preparation of investigative dig schedule

· Records management for inspections and investigative digs

· Project management - coordination and management of:

· Feasibility studies for potential projects

· Detailed planning and engineering on approved projects

· Obtaining regulatory permits as required

· Coordination of department personnel and contractors as required

· Development and execution of contracts for external contractors

· Budget:

· Project planning and budgeting through to project management and reporting

· Develop annual departmental operations and maintenance budgets

· Conduct monthly budget review and variance analysis and provide update to General Manager of Operations

To accomplish this he or she will:

· Manage and provide technical direction to the compression, corrosion, measurement, and warehouse departments;

· Provide direct supervision to all departmental employees;

· Manage various capital projects;

· Provide engineering support to field operations, as required; and,

· Be responsible for the electrical and instrumentation components of operations and maintenance.

THE INDIVIDUAL

The successful candidate will have:

· A minimum of 5 years of experience in a pipeline transmission and/or gas compression environment;

· A professional engineer designation (P. Eng.) with 10 years of related experience preferred; and,

· A minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience.

The successful candidate will also have:

· Strong leadership skills and work well in a team setting;

· Excellent oral and written communication skills;

· Strong problem solving capabilities and the ability to meet deadlines;

· A logical and methodical understanding of complex information; and,

· The ability to work under pressure on multiple competing priorities.
